Skin Resurfacing (Fractional CO2)
Laser re-surfacing a is one of the most effective non-surgical cosmetic medical procedures for treating scarring and wrinkles due to skin aging.
What is laser skin resurfacing?
Laser re-surfacing is a laser procedure that uses fractional carbon dioxide (SmartXide DOT) technology for skin rejuvenation with amazing results. Laser light in this procedure is able to stimulate the formation of new collagen by applying heat only to the depth and area of the skin affected by the laser beam.
What are the indications for the laser resurfacing procedure?
This procedure is safe for all skin types. Abnormalities that can be overcome include:
Eliminates wrinkles around the eyes and mouth.
Smooth the hollows on the smile lines and wrinkles on the forehead.
Post acne scars, chicken pox and due to traumatic causes.
Photoaging of the face and back of the hand.
Some skin disorders such as seborrheic keratosis, nevus verucosus, and others.
How long does this laser procedure last? Is it painful?
This procedure takes about 1.5 hours depending on the area. Previously the patient's skin was given a topical anesthetic cream for about 60 minutes, no injection anesthesia was needed. Usually sufferers will feel like stung. This procedure is very safe and effective, meaning that it can be done in all parts of the face, neck and hands.
How many times the therapy should be done?
The results can already be seen with one treatment, but in some severe cases it is necessary to repeat the procedure, can be 1-5 sessions of therapy with intervals of 4 weeks.
What are the effects of this procedure?
After the procedure there will be redness, scabs and swelling. Redness of the skin will disappear in a few days. The skin will form a layer of brown (scabs) and will peel within 4-7 days. The swelling will subside within 1-2 days.
What is needed after this procedure?
After this procedure the skin will feel somewhat tight with light redness as if you are basking in the sun. The doctor will give a special cream to make your skin moist. Always use sunscreen after this procedure to minimize the effects of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (HPI).
When will the results be visible?
Most sufferers will experience changes in skin elasticity and texture after one therapy session. Pigmentation of the skin will also look more faded, although it often takes two therapy sessions to overcome the problem of epidermal pigmentation. For slightly deeper scar tissue, more therapy sessions are needed and other additional therapies may be needed to overcome them. Your doctor will arrange a treatment program that is appropriate for your problem. Progressive improvement will still be seen several months after you have completed this procedure.
Are the results obtained from this procedure permanent?
All changes to the skin after the laser procedure with Smartxide DOT are permanent. However, as you age and the natural aging process, as well as exposure to sunlight, alcohol, cigarettes, unhealthy diets, and environmental pollution, your skin will begin to reappear symptoms of aging.
Can this procedure be repeated?
This procedure can be repeated several years after the first procedure if you wish. Because only by spending a little time you will enjoy the results for a fairly long period of time.
